Taekwondo Classes in Al Waha

• Children aged 4 to 11: Structured classes focused on listening, coordination, confidence, and early belt progression. No experience needed. Children start with basic techniques and progress at their own pace.

• Teens aged 12 and over: A more demanding session covering patterns, sparring fundamentals, self-defence, and fitness. Suitable for complete beginners and students returning from other clubs.

• Adults: Beginners are welcomed. The 6-7pm Tuesday and Thursday session is a practical, full-body class with real martial arts depth. Many adult students join for fitness and stay for the challenge.

• Families: Parent & child can train in the same class or choose back to back classes at the same venue.

Hwa Rang Taekwon-Do Club is one of Dubai's most established ITF Taekwondo communities, with nine venues across Dubai and Sharjah and classes running seven days a week. The Al Waha location at GEMS Metropole School serves families in Wadi Al Safa, Al Waha, Dubailand, and the surrounding communities.

Every class is led by instructors who are ITF-certified, First Aid qualified, and Child Safeguarding trained. The club is headed by Master Carlos Bazan, 7th Dan and three-time ITF World Champion, one of the most decorated Taekwondo coaches in the region.

What a first class looks like

Students arrive in comfortable sportswear. No uniform is required for the trial. The instructor will introduce your child to the group, explain the basic format, and get them moving within the first few minutes. Parents are welcome to watch from the side.

At the end of the session, the instructor will let you know which age group and frequency of training would suit your child best.

The first class at Al Waha is always free. No membership payment is required before the trial. If you decide to join, the instructor will guide you through the enrolment process.

Uniforms (doboks) are purchased separately once a student decides to continue. Grading fees are communicated in advance and students are only invited to grade when they are genuinely ready.

Hwa Rang teaches traditional ITF Taekwon-Do, the martial art founded in Korea in 1955 and governed internationally by the International Taekwon-Do Federation. Training follows the five tenets of ITF Taekwon-Do: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit.

Teens progress through the colour-belt system toward Black Belt, with access to the club's Black Belt Academy for students who want to compete or pursue advanced training.

How to Join the Al Waha Classes

Joining Hwa Rang at Al Waha takes three steps:

1. Choose your class. Children aged 4 to 11 join the 5-6pm session. Teens and adults join the 6-7pm session. Both run on Tuesdays and Thursdays at GEMS Metropole School, Wadi Al Safa 7.

2. Book your free trial. Message the club on WhatsApp with your child's name and age, or your own name if you are joining as an adult. The team will confirm the next available session.

3. Come along and try. Wear comfortable sportswear. Arrive five minutes early. No equipment or uniform is needed. Parents are welcome to watch.
